How Retweetable is your tweet?

If twitter is a part of your Social Media strategy, one of your key measures would be the number of twitter references and mentions.
The easiest way to increase references/mentions on twitter is by having people re-tweet your posts. There are a few factors that affect how “retweetable” your tweet is.
Content is king. I think most people are tired of saying and hearing this. Most of us get it. But no harm in reminding ourselves, content needs to be good and more importantly relevant to your audience.
Right time. To improve the impact of your tweets, its important to get your timing right. If your followers or the relevant audience are not online at the time of your tweet, you risk your post getting lost in space. Increase your twitter impact, with use of tools such as @bufferapp and @tweriod.
Right place. You can get your tweets in front of more relevant audience by using relevant #tags. By nature of #tags, it is tempting to try create your own. But sometimes its worth investing a couple of minutes to check what already exists. Using existing #tags that are relevant and have a following will give your tweet more visibility compared to inventing a new one every time. And do yourself a favour and spend a few extra seconds to check the spellings of your #tags!
length of your tweet. The most irritating thing is when you are trying to Retweet something, and its too long! If you are hoping for your posts to be retweeted, and your tweet is all of 140 characters, you will be putting off at least a few. Make your posts more RT friendly, by sticking to a 120 character limit, allowing others to add a little comment and your mention when they RT you.
